Following five days of intensive diplomatic negotiations in Geneva, representatives from 42 maritime trading nations ratified the Geneva Maritime Climate Accord, establishing mandatory emission reduction thresholds for transoceanic container vessels.
The pact outlines dedicated trade routes connecting North American Atlantic ports with European hubs, where zero-emission synthetic fuels and shore-power plug-in systems will be mandated for all commercial cargo operations by 2030.
